Deck patches

Graham Bantock has a way with deck patches:

Yes, there is a simple way to put sticky-backed deck patches on. It sounds a little stupid but really does work well.

Take a little liquid soap in a screw top pot (one like the pots in our boats) and dilute it about 10:1. Use your finger to spread it all over and around where you are going to put the patch. Peel off the patch backing and place the patch on the deck. The soapy water will allow you to move it around, lifting as necessary, until it's in the right place with no wrinkles. In the workshop here it will dry in a few hours. In the summer, in 30 minutes. Replace the lid on the pot and keep it to use next time. Of course it won't work during the racing except at lunch break or a sunny climate!
